Update July 8, 2016

The Board of Directors of Mid-America Arts Alliance (M-AAA) voted to suspend its partnership with the Kansas Creative Arts Industries Commission (KCAIC) for FY17 (July 1, 2016–June 30, 2017). The decision was based on the Mid-America Arts Alliance State Arts Agency Policy, which states that among the criteria required for partnership with M-AAA, a partner state arts agency must meet the financial matching requirements outlined by the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA). The KCAIC did not receive an appropriation that met with the minimum requirements of the NEA.

Kansas is still an important part of the work we do at M-AAA. As stated by our CEO, Mary Kennedy, “We deeply regret the loss of Kansas to Mid-America Arts Alliance. Kansas artists and arts organizations have been extraordinary partners in the delivery of our programs and services to the citizens of Kansas. Last year more than 41,000 Kansans benefitted from more than $370,000 in programs and services provided by M-AAA to Kansas communities. We hope this decision will be short-lived and Kansas will be back in full membership to M-AAA next year. We stand ready to work to restore full public funding to the arts in Kansas.”

National Partners

M-AAA is a regional arts organization, providing structure and further resources to state arts agencies in our region. We have five peer regional arts organizations that serve the other five regions of our country.
