Applicant
Eligibility
In order to apply, applicant organizations must:
-
Be located in Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska,
Oklahoma, or Texas.
-
Be legally incorporated as a not-for-profit organization
with IRS 501(c)(3) status or a unit of federal, state,
local, or tribal government.

Credit Meet The Composer, National Endowment for
the Arts, Mid-America Arts Alliance and its funders
in programs, season brochures, advertisements, and/or
press releases. You must submit samples from these
publications as proof of proper crediting. Please
note: Failure to give proper credit may result
in future ineligibility for application to the program
by your organization.

Project Eligibility
-
Begin no earlier than July 1, 2006, and end the event
no later than June 30, 2007.

Include at least one public performance of the visiting
composer's work
-
Include one or more educational activities involving
the composer with members of the community (a pre-concert
talk does not fulfill this requirement)

of Educational Activities

A lecture-demonstration by the composer (featuring
his/her work)

A workshop with students (at any level) centered on
musical composition
-
A master class with composition students (at any level)

Funding Criteria
Funding will be based on the project's ability
to meet the following criteria:

Broaden and deepen community participation in the
arts
-
Engage new audiences or participants in the arts
-
Encourage collaborations within the community
-
Allow for geographic distribution of funds throughout
the M-AAA region
-
Show matching financial support reflecting community
interest in the project
-
Be a new program or new component of an established
program

Levels of Support
-
Awards will be up to 50% of the composer's expenses
(including the composer's fee, per diem, travel, and
lodging).

Maximum award is $1,000.
-
Only one application per organization can be funded
in one program year (July 1, 2006 through June
30, 2007).

Application Process
Applications should be submitted at least 60
days before first day of the activity. Earlier
submissions increase the likelihood of funding. Applications
will be accepted through April 30, 2007, or until funds
are exhausted. Applications
will be reviewed and
awarded on a first-come, first-served basis.
Review Process
Program applications will be reviewed on a monthly basis
by Mid-America Arts Alliance
Performing Arts staff. Outside adjudicators may be consulted
and staff may request additional information if needed.
You will be notified two to three weeks after your application
has been reviewed.

Read the guidelines above carefully.

Fill out the Meet The Composer application form
and addendum.

Include with your application:
-
A resume or biography of the composer
-
A copy of your executed contract with the composer
(or temporary letter of intent until contract
is completed), including details of the engagement,
such as dates, events, fees, and expenses to be
paid by the sponsor, etc.
A copy of your IRS 501(c)(3) letter of designation.
