Educational Programming

ExhibitsUSA creates an educational component for every exhibition to help your institution nurture the development and understanding of diverse arts and cultures and to expanding the depth and breadth of cultural life in your community. ExhibitsUSA’s educational programming is designed to engage and inform a wide range of audiences having various levels of interest and education. Our educational support provides programming ideas, suggestions for giving effective docent-led tours, and activities and interpretive materials for visiting groups and schools.

Educational Programming Guide

When you schedule an exhibition with ExhibitsUSA you will receive a copy of our Educational Programming Guide before the exhibition arrives. These guides provide information for educational programming both within the institution hosting the exhibition and for training docents and schoolteachers. Items found in the reference materials include an exhibition checklist, tour schedule, introductory readings, artists biographies, glossary and timeline, and an annotated guide to related books and films, audio CDs, and videotapes with distributor contact information. Items found in the education section generally include educational activities, lesson plans, a tour script with a selection of slides, gallery guides, a list of speakers who have expressed an interest in working with venues hosting the exhibition, and copies of useful materials that introduce the ideas and concepts explored in the exhibition.

Labels and Framed Text Panels

Most ExhibitsUSA exhibitions include labels printed on white card stock suitable for mounting on mat board or for use “as is.” The label copy is also available on disk. At least one framed interpretive text panel arrives with the artwork, and most exhibitions include several text panels.

Other Educational Materials

In addition to the items mentioned above, ExhibitsUSA provides other support materials when appropriate. These may include adult and children’s books, videotapes, audio CDs, CD-ROMs, traveling activity trunks, classroom prints, and reproducible gallery guides. Materials will vary according to the educational focus of each exhibition. If you have further questions about educational programming, call 800-473-EUSA (3872).
