Albion Area Arts Council

Located in east central Nebraska in a town of just 1,686, the Albion Area Arts Council serves a number of rural communities in their region.

Robert Bluestone and two Albion studentsThey set as one of their main goals to provide residents of Albion and the surrounding area with arts events that emphasize the importance of the arts in their daily lives.

On top of Robert’s scheduled residency activities, the formal concert, three school programs, and a meeting with community and business leaders, the Arts Council partnered with the Albion Area Art Club, the City Administrator, and the City Council President to sponsor "Art Week" April 3-8. The Art Club put together visual arts exhibitions at all four local banks and helped to publicize not only the residency, but also other community arts events.

Arts Council co-director Paul Hosford felt that Robert’s residency was most successful in his interaction with the students. His performances engaged them and brought them back to his evening concert. A number Bluestone and Paul Hosford of the Albion Arts Councilof them even sent him hand-written thank you notes. Paul felt that the whole experience was a tremendous success and looks forward to participating in similar activities in the future.
