Kearney Performing Arts Center

Kearney is the largest community that participated in NECAP with a population of over 27,000.

They are in the process of building a new performing arts center and director Gail Lowenberg wanted to use her NECAP experience to help broaden support for the new center within the business community, and to develop residency activities that would engage new or underserved audiences.

With these goals in mind, they came up with a list of activities that had Robert busy Robert Bluestone and a Kearney highschool studentconducting a workshop at the high school, appearing on a local radio show, guest speaking at a business leaders reception entitled "A Sound Investment in Kearney’s Future," speaking during an exclusive dinner for local arts patrons, and presenting a formal concert at the Kearney High School.

Gail felt that the activities that best helped them accomplish their goals were the ones related to the local business community. She says of the experience "People who attended the dinner reception were given a whole new perspective about the impact of the arts on our children and on the business community."
