Mid-America Arts Alliance Names Todd Stein as
Director of Finance and Administration

Kansas City, MO – Mid-America Arts Alliance announces the promotion of Todd Stein from Manager of Operations to Director of Finance and Administration. Stein came to Mid-America Arts Alliance as Fiscal and Grants administrator in 1996; he was promoted to Manager of Operations in 1998. Stein now succeeds his former supervisor, Will Conner, who resigned from the organization in August.

Stein’s duties will include annual budget preparation, expense and revenue projections analysis, and audit and tax management. Other areas under his purview are operations, including payroll and office maintenance; all aspects of information technology, including database administration; and grants administration. In addition, he serves as principle liaison to the M-AAA board of directors’ Finance Committee.

“Todd’s advancement is a testament to his dedication to Mid-America Arts Alliance and the efficiency and economy he has brought to our fiscal practices,” said Mary Kennedy McCabe, Executive Director. “Finance at a nonprofit arts organization is not glamorous work. It is challenging, often frustrating. But that makes us appreciate those who help us manage to provide arts programming no matter what the economic climate. We are very pleased that Todd has accepted the position as the new M-AAA Director of Finance and Administration.”

Stein will supervise Greg Hubbard, Finance and Grants Analyst; Regina Schneider, Operations Associate; and Paula Webb, Receptionist.

“I have been dedicated to this organization and our mission for seven years now, and it’s been a wonderful experience,” Stein said. “I look forward to picking up where Will left off so that we can ensure many more years of successful Mid-America Arts Alliance programming.”

Stein earned his BS in geography with an emphasis in meteorology from the University of Kansas. He began an eight-year career in banking at BANK IV in Topeka, Kansas, in 1985. Stein then provided reconciliation services and staff supervision as an assistant manager at the Mercantile Bank of Lawrence, in Lawrence, Kansas. Prior to joining Mid-America Arts Alliance, Stein was funds manager for Johnson County Community College in Overland Park, Kansas, where he managed reporting, reconciliation, and disbursement of student financial aid and endowment funds.
