Mid-America Arts Alliance Hires New Member of Grantwriting Staff

Kansas City, MO – Mid-America Arts Alliance has hired Karma Vowell to fill the position of Development Associate. Vowell’s tasks will include the creation, articulation, and execution of plans to increase M-AAA’s contributed revenue through grantwriting. In addition, she will work with current donors and research new funding prospects. Vowell will report to Tricia Hoffman, Director of Development.

“With her solid background in arts funding, Karma will be a great asset to us,” says Hoffman. “I am very excited that she’s joined this department.”

Vowell received a Masters Degree in Arts Management from Oklahoma City University.
She most recently worked as Development Associate for Allied Arts, an Oklahoma City non-profit that raises funds to garner from five to twenty percent of the operating budget for each of its twenty member arts agencies.

“While I worked at Allied Arts, I was a successful part of their annual campaigns, donor development, and direct mail fundraising,” says Vowell. “I look forward to applying all of my experience to new challenges at Mid-America Arts Alliance.”

Vowell earned a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Policy from the University of Tulsa in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
