M-AAA Promotes Grantwriter to Specialize in Foundation
and Corporate Giving
Kansas City, MO – Mid-America Arts Alliance Director of Development
Tricia Hoffman has announced that Karma Vowell, Development Associate
since January 2005, has been promoted to Foundation and Corporate Giving
Coordinator.
Vowell will continue to create and execute plans to increase M-AAA’s

on foundations and corporations; others in the department will focus on
individual giving and the upcoming capital campaign.
Said Hoffman, “The move toward specialization makes sense at this
point: Karma has proven impressive competency in this area, and it will
make our fundraising process more efficient and streamlined overall, both
for Karma and for her fellow employees.”
Vowell most recently worked as Development Associate for Allied Arts,
an Oklahoma City non-profit that raises funds to garner from five to twenty
percent of the operating budget for each of its twenty member arts agencies.
“I’ve enjoyed my first several months at Mid-America Arts
Alliance learning about the organization and all of the programs that
we offer,” said Vowell. “Now that I’ve gotten my feet
wet, it feels like a good time to focus on the area to which I think I
can contribute the most.”
Vowell earned a BS in Environmental Policy from the University of Tulsa
in Tulsa, Oklahoma and an MA in Arts Management from Oklahoma City University.
