Alan Proctor Joins Mid-America Arts Alliance as Director of Development
Kansas City, MO–Alan Proctor, CFRE, has joined Mid-America Arts Alliance as Director of Development. Proctor will manage all aspects of fundraising from both private and public sources. During the last 20 years, Proctor has worked extensively in development positions in Oklahoma. Most recently, he served as the Vice President of University Advancement for the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma in Chickasha and as Executive Director of the USAO Foundation. He has taught numerous courses in fundraising, board development, and marketing, as well as directed programming for the Center for Nonprofit Management. Mid-America Executive Director Mary Kennedy McCabe says, “Alan has demonstrated a lifelong commitment to fundraising. His devotion to the field coupled with his passion for the arts makes him an excellent leader in our development efforts. I think he will be able to bring new life and vision to our development department, which is especially vital as we launch our capital campaign.” “I feel like I’ve found a home at Mid-America Arts Alliance,” says Alan Proctor. “Mid-America projects a vitality that I find irresistible and a mission that’s close to my heart. I’m delighted to have been selected as its Development Director, and look forward to assisting in its goal of providing access to a broad range of high quality and affordable cultural experiences.” An artist in his own right, Proctor is a poet and classical guitarist and is involved in numerous community service organizations. Proctor earned a bachelor’s in English from Earlham College. He has also completed coursework in music with the American University in Washington, DC, and liberal studies with the University of Oklahoma. Proctor is married to Susan Proctor, Associate Professor and Director of the Theater Program at Rockhurst University. They have two grown children. The mission of Mid-America Arts Alliance is to enrich communities through cultural experiences. Founded in 1972, Mid-America Arts Alliance is a nonprofit regional cultural organization based in Kansas City, Missouri. It is governed by a board of directors drawn from its partner states of Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma, and Texas.
