2007 LIVE! in the Crossroads
For the second consecutive year, Mid-America Arts Alliance presented a live summer concert series in one of the most highly-trafficked areas of Kansas City's Crossroads Arts District.
The four-part series, Mid-America Presents: Live in the Crossroads, offered Kansas Citians a chance to have fun and enjoy cultural activities during the evenings of the first Friday of the summer months. Mid-America sponsored performances:
- Jazz legend Ida McBeth
- the hypnotic jazzy soul sounds of TwinSpirit
- bluegrass music by Spontaneous Combustion
- A double-performance finale featuring the Kansas City Ballet, followed by Spanish music and dancing by flamenco guitarist Ronald Radford and Kansas City choreographer Tamara LaGarbancito Carson.
Nearly 24,000 people experienced the four summer events – more than twice as many attendees as 2006. The 2007 season of Live in the Crossroads was presented with support from these organizations:
- National Endowment for the Arts
- Muriel McBrien Kauffman Foundation
- Kansas City Neighborhood Tourist Development Fund
- Metropolitan Arts Council of Greater Kansas City.
