AMD Application Process

AMD Touring Grants
Dancer from jazztap ensembleReceipt Deadline for Letters of Intent and Tour Grids: February 8, 2008
Receipt Deadline for Presenter Applications: April 1, 2008

AMD Touring Grants support the distribution and presentation (touring) of AMD-funded projects. Performing arts presenters may receive fee subsidy grants for the presentation of any of the season's AMD Reconstruction Projects or AMD Tour Only Projects.

AMD Touring Grants are paid directly to performing arts presenters to cover a percentage of the artistic fee. Performing arts presenters interested in presenting a project from the booklet in 2008–2009 season are eligible to apply for AMD Touring Grants.

AMD Touring Grants will be awarded as follows: up to thirty percent of the artistic fee, paid by NEFA; up to twenty percent of the artistic fee, paid by M-AAA.

Eligibility

  • Only one application per dance company will be accepted, although the project can include multiple works by multiple choreographers as long as they fit the AMD criteria.

  • Presenters must have given their permission to be listed on the application form.

  • A United States tour of the project must occur in the season for which Tour Only Support is awarded, which is July 1, 2008–June 30, 2009 for the Mid-America Region.

  • U.S. Performing arts presenters with nonprofit status are eligible to apply for AMD Touring Grants.

  • AMD Touring Grants are awarded for the presentation of AMD-funded projects.

  • Engagements must include at least one public performance, and tours must include at least three presenters.

  • There is no limit to the number of AMD Touring Grants a presenter may receive.

How to Apply

Performance of Tent by Nikolais Dance Theatre1. Select a project eligible for AMD touring support, as outlined in AMD Touring Grants above.

    2. Presenters interested in booking any of these AMD-funded projects within the Mid-America Region for the 2008–2009 season (July 1, 2008–June 30, 2009) should begin by contacting project Tour Coordinators to arrange agreements. Presenters need to submit a signed Letter of Intent to the Tour Coordinator and to Mid-America Arts Alliance for each project they will present. This letter must state the negotiated artistic fee (inclusive of travel and lodging costs), dates of engagement, venue for the engagement and a brief description of the engagement. Letters of Intent should be typed on presenter letterhead, and signed by both the presenter and the artist or their representative. The Letter of Intent should be sent directly to the project's Tour Coordinator, with a copy to Mid-America Arts Alliance.

    3. Tour Coordinators will add the information from each Letter of Intent to an overall tour plan, which must be submitted to AMD and M-AAA for review and funding consideration. It is the role of the project's Tour Coordinator to submit the project's full tour plan, and copies of each Letter of Intent. These items must be received by AMD and M-AAAA by 5:00 p.m. EST February 8, 2008. Late materials or those sent by fax or email will not be accepted.

    4. Once AMD has allocated funding, notification letters and the AMD Touring Grant Reserved Funding Application Packet will be mailed to presenters by late February. The AMD Touring Grant Reserved Funding Packet contains instructions, crediting requirements, and the application form. Remember, this form is ONLY for those that have been notified of a Touring Grant award by AMD. Presenters need to complete the application packet and submit to NEFA and Mid-America Arts Alliance by April 1, 2008 (receipt deadline). The form must by typed; hand-written forms will disqualify the application. AMD Touring Grant Application for Reserved Funding forms must be received by AMD by 5:00 p.m. EST April 1, 2008. Late forms or those sent by fax or email will not be accepted.
