What is the booking fee?
The quoted fee for each of the three works Headlong Dance
Theater will tour in 2007-2008 (Shosha, Mixed
Tape for a Bad Year, and Hotel Pool) is $10,000 - $12,000 per week,
excluding travel, lodging, and amenities. The Mid-America
Arts Alliance Enhance Dance program will award 50% of the
total contracted artist fee for the project, including travel.
An additional 5% may be awarded to those presenters serving
rural communities. Maximum award will be $7,500.
When is Headlong Dance
touring?
Headlong Dance Theater has flexible touring availability
during the 2007-2008 presenting season. Contact Headlong
Dance Theater directly to inquire about specific dates
(www.headlong.org). Unavailable dates will appear here
as they become known.
Applicants completing an Intention to Apply form will be
asked to select their first and second choice of performance
weeks.
Who is eligible?
Presenters of all sizes are encouraged to apply to bring
Headlong Dance Theatre to their communities to experience
their unique dance style, though priority will be given
to those presenters who do not normally present dance.
Recipients of other Mid-America support via the Regional
Touring Program, Meet the Composer, etc. are eligible
to apply..
How do I find a swimming pool?
Yes,
Hotel Pool really does require a swimming pool for performance!
Mid-America holds collaboration as one of its core values.
Developing partnerships with businesses in your community
can be vital in building an active support base for your
organization. Local hotels have been pleased to partner
with arts presenters in bringing Hotel Pool to their communities
as the event generates publicity for the hotel and brings
audience members onto their site who in addition to becoming
more familiar with their services, will often spend at
their shops, restaurants and bars.
For those communities that do not have swimming pools in
their local hotels, the dance company is willing to perform
in community center, college, university, and other community-oriented
pools. Olympic-sized pools are not eligible.
Note: A presenter is not required to
book Hotel Pool to participate in the pilot year
grant program; Headlong Dance Theater is offering two more
traditional
works, Shosha and Mixed Tape for a Bad Year.
