How is the Latino Culture Project different from the Mexico
Transnational Project?
Whereas the Mexico Transnational Project required that
performing artists reside in Mexico, the Latino Culture
Project allows presenters to draw from the many talented
Latino performing artists residing in the Mid-America region – and
within the United States. It is the goal of the Latino
Culture Project to be more flexible for, and accessible
to, presenters within our region.
Latino, or Latino Descent Countries

Who is eligible to apply?
Presenters of all sizes are encouraged to apply to use
Latino Culture Project funds to build bridges with Latino
populations in their communities, or to teach existing
audiences about Latino culture. Recipients of other Mid-America
support via the Regional Touring Program, American Masterpieces: Dance,
etc. are eligible to apply. Only presenters within the
six state Mid-America region are eligible to apply.
How much will the award be?
Latino Culture Project awards will support a percentage
of the contracted artist fee for the project, up to $3,000.
50% of the contracted artist fee will be supported for
projects utilizing artists from the six state Mid-America
region; 40% of the contracted artist fee will be supported
for all other projects.
An additional
5% may be awarded to those presenters serving rural communities.
Creative use of project in building or expanding audiences,
use of educational activity, and use of outreach activity
will be considered in making award determinations.
