Art From the Heartland 2018 Call for Submissions / Deadline: April 13, 2018


The Indianapolis Art Center is calling for entries for artists in any medium 18 or older living in the Midwest for a Juried Exhibition. Cash awards total $4,000.00. 2 Director’s Choice Awards will be a Solo Show each at the Indianapolis Art Center. This show ONLY ACCEPTS two entries. The show will be juried by Mike Barclay, Director of Exhibitions of the Indianapolis Museum of Contemporary Art (iMOCA).

About the Juror:
Mike Barclay is the Director of Exhibitions of the Indianapolis Museum of Contemporary Art (iMOCA). He Previously served as the Assistant Gallery Director of the Herron Galleries at the Herron School of Art and Design in Indianapolis, Indiana, overseeing a diverse exhibition program in contemporary arts and related education programming.  He is also the Collections Manager for the Eskenazi Health Art Collection at the Sidney and Lois Eskenazi Hospital where he oversees acquisitions, care and preservation of the large historic and contemporary art collection. Barclay has a particular interest in community curation and digital collections, having collaborated with Indy Pride Inc., the City of Columbus and other organizations and individuals helping them to tell and preserve their stories.  He has curated, administered and juried exhibitions in and outside of Indianapolis.  Educational achievements include a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts and Graphic Design from the University of Southern Indiana; a Bachelor’s degree in Art History and Classical Studies from the Herron School of Art and Design; Master’s Degree in Museum Studies from Indiana University-Purdue University at Indianapolis.  Michael serves on the Film Selection Committee for the Indianapolis LGBT Film Festival and was a founding Board Member for Girls Rock! Indianapolis.
