August First Friday: American Farmer

Mid-America Arts Alliance (M-AAA) is pleased to present a preview of ExhibitsUSA’s American Farmer, opening for First Friday August 4 from 6:00–8:00 p.m. at 2018 Baltimore in Kansas City’s Crossroads Arts District.

This preview kicks off American Farmer’s five-year national tour.

When photographer Paul Mobley set out to capture the soul of our country’s farm communities for his book American Farmer: Portraits from the Heartland, he encountered an enduring rural culture that remains rooted in the principles of tradition, family, integrity, and hard work. American Farmer includes iconic portraits showing the geographic and cultural diversity of the American farmer. The portraits are accompanied by anecdotes and memories in the farmers’ own words that are both a testament to their enduring hospitality and a moving glimpse into the hardships and joys of a quickly disappearing way of life—one that once defined our national identity and now struggles to remain vital.

Visit M-AAA at 2018 Baltimore to see a selection of these portraits for First Friday on August 4th. Gallery hours are 6:00–8:00 p.m. The exhibition will be on view only for First Friday.
