Paul Mesner Puppet Theater will present “St. George and the Dragon”, a puppet show that adds modern twists and turns to a popular legend. Set in a chilly mythical kingdom, the tale unfolds as the king and his court try to decide what to do about an earth-shaking, hungry dragon. The feature presentation will take place on February 7, 2017, at 7:00 PM, and will be preceded by the complementary activity, which will be a 45-minute hands-on workshop on puppet theater and how Paul Mesner crafts presentations and works with puppets. This goal of the workshop is to introduce students to this fascinating art form, and inspire creativity and use of imagination for at-risk youth. Partner organizations sending students to participate will study the traditional legend of St. George and the Dragon, and then have a follow-up after the performance asking them to discuss how the puppet presentation was different, and how it changed and/or aided the new artistic vision.
