Houston Workshop in Financial Management

Nonprofit Accounting: Everything You Need to Know (Or Pretty Close)

M-AAA’s Engage Houston program is presenting a free workshop for arts nonprofits, because we know that nonprofit organizations have special needs and requirements when it comes to accounting. Join us Friday, January 18th from 9am to 1pm at the Hines Center in Downtown Houston (500 Fannin St #100, Houston, TX 77002).

Who Should Attend

This workshop is for all arts organization staff looking to improve their understanding of the basic concepts of nonprofit finance and accounting. Participants may be newly in a finance role in their organization, or be responsible for overseeing the financial function of the organization without a professional background in nonprofit finance.

About the Workshop

The accounting and financial aspects of running a nonprofit can be intimidating. But it can’t be ignored. If a mission is to be successful, there has to be an understanding of the finances. This workshop will explain the basics of nonprofit accounting, and give practical suggestions, in a non-condescending manner, of how your small organization can operate best practices, even with limited staff. We’ll discuss a variety of topics, from QuickBooks to 990s.

This event is free and open to the public, but registration is required and seats are limited. REGISTER HERE. The Hines Center provides free parking to attendees who use their garage. Choose a non-reserved space in the parking garage at 511 San Jacinto, and bring your parking ticket with you for validation. The Hines Center is one block west on Prairie Avenue at Fannin.
