Salina Art Center Biennial Call / Deadline: January 19


The Salina Art Center seeks submissions from artists currently working in the Mountain-Plains region of the United States for its biennial exhibition of contemporary art. The Salina Art Center is a nonprofit, contemporary art and education center with the mission “to create exchanges among art, artists, and audiences that reveal life.” Located in historic downtown Salina, Kansas, the Art Center has a national reputation as an innovative, artist-supportive, and audience-responsive institution and is accredited by the American Alliance of Museums.

Open to all visual artists working in the Mountain-Plains region (Colorado, Kansas, Montana, Nebraska, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Texas, and Wyoming). Work completed in 2018 or 2019, in any medium, is eligible. Work completed prior to 2018 will not be considered. Awards are as follows: First place-$2000, Second place-$1000, Third place-$500.

Entries must be submitted via online form by midnight January 19, 2020. Entry fee is $25, payable to the Salina Art Center via PayPal, check, or credit card. Artists may submit up to three works and no more than two media files (images, video, or audio) per work, for a total of six files. Image files should be JPG format, approximately 5 x 7 in., and 300 dpi. Artists must include a written statement (not to exceed 750 words) about their work and practice. Submission constitutes a formal agreement to make submitted work available for exhibition.
